The mother of a 3-year-old girl, born without an anus is crying out for help to save her daughter’s life.

Basira Abdulai currently excretes faecal matter through her vagina because of her rare condition, known as Imperforate anus: a birth defect in which the anus has no opening or is blocked.

According to the National Library of Medicine (NLM), this abnormality is present in about one of every 5,000 births, occurring more often in boys than girls.

Apart from the anal condition, the little girl also finds it extremely difficult to breathe because she suffers from a deadly heart condition, known as Ventricular Septal Defect, commonly known as hole-in-heart condition.
Now Basira urgently needs $10,000 for a surgery.
Her 28-year-old mother, Hassana Abdulai told Starr News she has given up hope due to her inability to raise funds for the surgery.

Basira currently looks weary as a result of her condition and unable to attend school. Eating has become very difficult for her too.

Both mother and child currently live in an uncompleted building at Kotobabi, a suburb of Accra.

In a heart wrenching interaction with Emmanuel Gbikpo, Hassana said her relatives, including the little girl’s father have neglected them.

Some neighbours who help the jobless mother and her sick daughter to survive toldStarr News that they are often stigmatised by some individuals in the area.
