The 61st annual Grammy Awards featured numerous performances by some of the most popular music artists on the planet. Among the performers this year were Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves, Canadian singer Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Post Malone, Lady Gaga and more.

Record of the year went to Childish Gambino (a.k.a. Donald Glover) for This Is America, and Kacey Musgraves took home the top prize of Album of the Year for Golden Hour.

Chart-toppers Drake and Shawn Mendes made Canadians proud by picking up multiple nominations — Drake with seven, Mendes with two. Drake took home Rap Song of the Year for God’s Plan. Cardi B, having an amazing year, took home Rap Album of the Year. Dua Lipa won Best New Artist, an accolade Canadian Alessia Cara won in 2018.

Late grunge rocker Chris Cornell posthumously won Best Rock Performance for When Bad Does Good.

Ariana Grande won her first Grammy Award, but the singer didn’t collect it after deciding to skip the ceremony following a public dispute with the show’s producer.

Grande won the best pop vocal album trophy for Sweetener, beating Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. Grande was not in attendance at the pre-telecast ceremony, but she wrote on Twitter that her win was “wild and beautiful.”

“I know I’m not there tonight,” she tweeted. “Trust, I tried and still truly wished it had worked.”

Legendary singer Diana Ross gave a “very special performance” for her 75th birthday. Additionally, there will be a tribute to Aretha Franklin, who died in August 2018.

Fifteen-time Grammy winner Alicia Keys was a charismatic host, and mid-ceremony she delivered a powerful medley of songs like Killing Me Softly (With His Song).
