Reno Omokri, former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 Nigerian presidential election.
On May 23, 2025, Omokri declared his support on behalf of his followers, the #RenosNuggeteers, urging unity under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “I wholeheartedly endorse the President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a second term in office, God sparing his life,” Omokri said.
He cited key economic milestones, including a $14 billion reduction in national debt and Nigeria’s complete repayment of its IMF loans, confirmed by the IMF’s official statement. Omokri also referenced the World Bank’s report of a 4.6% GDP growth in late 2024 and a historic ₦5.81 trillion trade surplus.
Omokri praised the administration’s efforts in education, highlighting uninterrupted academic calendars and ₦32.8 billion in student loans awarded to approximately 200,000 students. Infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway are progressing rapidly.
Security gains under Tinubu were emphasized, with Omokri listing the deaths of over fourteen notorious bandit leaders and noting the return of peace to previously troubled regions. He contrasted this with the previous administration’s security failures, including terrorist attacks and bandit occupation of states.
Omokri also applauded the government’s action against separatists and the decisive shutdown of Binance’s operations to curb financial crimes.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to support Tinubu’s re-election, stating, “May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
