Professor Abdullahi Mahadi, the 9th Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria is dead.

Okay.ng gathered that he died today, 16th of December, 2022, after a brief illness in Gombe State.

Professor Mahadi was a renowned historian and accomplished educationist, and he had the distinction of serving as Vice-Chancellor of three different universities: Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Gombe State University, and Gombe State University of Science and Technology.

He was also a former Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (ASUU).

Professor Mahadi was born in December 1945 in Gwoza, Borno State, and he began his education at Warrabe Primary School.

He went on to attend Gwoza Centthe School, Government Craft School, Maiduguri.

Professor Mahadi began his lecturing career in 1984 as a senior lecturer in History at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He served the university in several capacities, and he was widely respected for his contributions to academia in Nigeria.
