World football governing body Fifa has opened an investigation into Paul Pogba’s world-record transfer from Juventus to Manchester United.

Pogba, 23, broke the world transfer record last summer when he completed an £89 million transfer back to the Old Trafford outfit where he began his career.

And Fifa has now opened a probe into the big-money deal, with one of its spokespersons confirming on Tuesday that its Transfer Matching System “has been requesting information on this matter.”

While the Zurich-based governing body has yet to state the exact nature of the probe, sources claim it surrounds reports that the agent, Mino Raiola, pocketed a whopping who reportedly pocketed £41m from the deal, ESPN writes.

The investigation opens the same week the book “Football Leaks: The Dirty Business of Football,”
which supposedly reveals details of the Pogba deal including Raiola’s cut, is due to be published in Germany.

Reacting to the development, a United spokesperson said that the club “do not comment on individual contracts,” but added that, “FIFA have had the documents since the transfer was concluded in August.”

Pogba, who started his career at Le Havre before joining United in 2009, returned to the club as the world’s most expensive footballer following a successful four-year period at Juventus.

The all-action France midfielder has scored seven goals in 48 games this season as Jose Mourinho’s men look to reclaim their place among the elites of European football.

He was left on the bench for the defeat at Arsenal on Sunday but is set to start the Europa League semifinal second leg against Celta Vigo in which the Red Devils hold a 1-0 lead from the first leg.
