The Federal Government has granted the request of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) as it extends the whistle-blower policy to the agency.

Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, delivered the approval to the Director-General of the agency on Monday.

The Director General of NAPTIP, Julie Okah-Donli, had requested for the policy to be extended to the agency following the success recorded in the financial sector.

According to her, the policy would encourage people to report cases of trafficking in persons and provide information on assets of traffickers to the agency without fear of reprisals.

Reacting to the approval, Okah-Donlia urged people to feel free to approach the agency with information, adding that the agency was working out modalities for reward to informants.

She however appealed that people should not use the policy for vendetta as NAPTIP will not kindly take such practices.
