…….begins Academic activities in October.

The newly founded Federal College of Education Technical built in Isu town in Onicha local government area of Ebonyi state, will fully start learning and academic activities for the 2022/23 academic year by October 2022.

Okay.ng gathered that the institution is one of the six newly established colleges of Education in Nigeria by President Mohammadu Buhari in 2021.

Prof.Okey Reuben the college provost told newsmen in a press conference in the state capital Abakaliki that prospective candidates can apply for admission to the tech college.

The new institution which was indexed under “Tear Leather” was aimed at producing professionals as well as NCE graduates that will teach in the basic education sub-sectors.

He reiterated that eligible students should apply for different Tech courses as they are fully ready to admit the pioneer set of students into the institution.

Contributing to what he said earlier he noted that tech college has ratified as satisfactory four schools to begin lectures as part of its overall kick-off for learning activities as required for the school by the regulatory commission.

He further mentioned the approved schools which are: School of Education and General studies; school of (Secondary Education), Technical school of (Secondary Education) and lastly sciences; school of (Secondary Education).

Providing more details, he said “these four schools are further broken down into eighteen departments as follows:

“Department of Education, Department of English and General Studies, Department of Biology Education, Department of Chemistry Education, Department of Physics Education, Department of Integrated Science Education, Department of Computer Science Education and Department of Mathematics Education and Department of Agricultural Sciences.

Others, according to him, are the “Department of Automobile Technology, Department of Electrical Electronics Engineering, Department of Metalwork Technology, Department of Woodwork Technology, Department of Home Economics Education, Department of Fine and Applied Arts Education, Department of Business Education of Theatre Arts Education and Department of Catering and Hotel Management.

After further questions on how prepared they were in regards to opening the institution, by October he noted that, the college has been included in the national budget and registered as part of TETFUND Intervention Platform which serves as sources of funding.

He also expressed that there are other projects taking place both in the temporary and permanent site which should be completed before October 2022.

Meanwhile, he stated that students with Jamb points of not less than 100 and above as well as 5 credits in not more than two sittings are accepted in the institution.

He advised that interested candidates should visit any cyber cafe and change their institution of choice to Federal College of Education Technical, Isu Ebonyi state.

He also notes that admissions are open to both applicants within and outside Nigeria as their academic quality is guaranteed, he added.

“The College commenced last year administratively with the appointment of the Principal Officers who worked tirelessly with the Ebonyi State Government, Onicha Local Government Council and the Isu community to acquire and set up both the permanent and Temporary sites of the College.

“The Principal Officers also within one year recruited take-off staff covering Academic and Non-teaching staff in line with its mandate”, the Provost explained.
