Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has addressed concerns surrounding the ongoing road development project, stating that compensation will be provided exclusively to property owners whose residences are directly impacted by the construction.
During a live media interaction on Tuesday, March 12, 2025, Wike explained that the project is designed to improve community infrastructure and that only properties situated within the immediate road corridor will be affected.

“This road is intended for the benefit of the community,” Wike stated. “We are not acquiring the entire community, only the necessary road corridor. Therefore, compensation will be limited to those whose houses are directly affected.”
This statement follows Wike’s recent order for the demolition of buildings obstructing the construction of Arterial Road N16 in Gishiri Village, Katampe District, within the Federal Capital City (FCC).

During a site visit to the community on Tuesday, the minister highlighted prior government attempts to engage with community leaders, offering both compensation and relocation alternatives for residents facing displacement.
