The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, has announced the appointment of Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Yunusa, as Pro-Chancellor of Abuja University of Technology, Abaji.

Bello made the announcement when he paid a visit to Ona of Abaji at his palace before inaugurating the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the FCT Area Councils’ election on Monday in Abaji.

According to Bello, the administration took this decision in recognition of the selfless service and uncommon contribution of Ona to the development of the FCT as the Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs.

He called on the traditional rulers in the territory to continue to play the role of “stabilising force” that brought about peaceful co-existence among all residents of the Federal Capital Territory.

The minister assured that the FCT administration would do all it could to open the AUTA for academic activities for the progress of the entire Federal Capital Territory.

He said that the university, when operational, would go a long way in providing the needed employment opportunities for the teeming youths in the area.

At the campaign arena, the minister presented the APC candidate, Abdulrahman Ajiya (Aba-Yaro), to the residents and promised that he would uplift the living standard of the people of the council if voted in.
