Fayose Writes Letter to EFCC, Promises to Submit Self for Interrogation After his Tenure [Read]

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has written the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), notifying the commission of his decision to make himself available for interrogation.

Fayose, who is the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, disclosed this on Twitter on Wednesday morning.

The governor posted a picture of the letter with the caption: “Yesterday, I submitted a letter to the @officialEFCC, informing the commission of my desire to make myself available on Tuesday, October 16 at 1 pm to clarify issues or answer questions on issues within my knowledge. My tenure as governor of Ekiti ends on October 15″.

Fayose’s decision is coming after the anti-graft agency had in July through its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said Fayose would face criminal trial after his tenure.

The letter dated September 10, entitled: “Notification Of My Decision To Make Myself Available In Your Office To Clarify Issue (s) Or Answer Questions Within My Knowledge,” was received by the anti-graft agency September 11.

“I wish to inform you that my term of office pursuant to which I enjoy immunity against investigation and prosecution under the above provision shall lapse by effusion of time on Monday 15th October 2018,” the letter read in part.

“As a responsible citizen of our great country, who believes in the Rule of law, I wish to inform you of my decision to make myself available in your office on Tuesday 16th October 2018 at 1 pm to clarify issues or answer questions within my knowledge.

“Kindly confirm the suitability of the above date or indicate by return, the Commission’s convenient date,” the letter added.

Meanwhile, as at the time of publishing this report, the EFCC had yet to issue a statement regarding Fayose’s letter.
