Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II has returned to the Kano Emir’s Palace, following his reinstatement by Governor Abba Yusuf. The Emir arrived at the palace in the early hours of Saturday, accompanied by the Governor, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam, and Speaker Jibril Falgore.

Governor Yusuf had signed the Kano State Emirates Council (Amendment Number 2) Law, 2024, on Thursday, abolishing the five emirate councils established by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2020. The move paved the way for Emir Sanusi’s reinstatement, four years after his deposition.

Emir Sanusi received his reappointment letter from Governor Yusuf on Friday, describing his reinstatement as “divine” and a lesson in the preordained nature of life.

He expressed gratitude and humility, noting that God gives leadership to whom He wants and takes it away at His discretion.
