Elon Musk, the Chief Executive Officer of Twitter, took a stroll down memory lane recently as he shared his childhood experience with his followers.

The multi-billionaire entrepreneur revealed that he did not inherit any wealth, nor did he receive any large financial gift from anyone. He also disclosed that he and his brother supported their father financially while growing up.

Musk tweeted, “I grew up in a lower, transitioning to upper, middle income situation, but did not have a happy childhood. Haven’t inherited anything ever from anyone, nor has anyone given me a large financial gift.”

He went further to explain that his father created a small engineering company that was successful for 20 to 30 years but fell on hard times. His father has been essentially bankrupt for about 25 years, and he and his brother have been providing him with financial support.

Despite the financial challenges, Elon Musk credits his father with teaching him the fundamentals of physics, engineering, and construction, which he considers more valuable than money.

However, he clarified that his father did not support him financially after high school in any meaningful way.

He and his brother only agreed to support their father on the condition that he does not engage in any bad behavior. Unfortunately, he did not keep to that agreement.

Elon Musk also addressed the issue of the so-called “emerald mine” that his father claimed to have owned a share in Zambia.

He revealed that there was no objective evidence that the mine ever existed. He believed his father for a while, but nobody has ever seen the mine, nor are there any records of its existence. Elon Musk believes that if the mine was real, his father would not require financial support from him and his brother.
