The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has released the list of areas in Lagos State where residents will be affected by the latest electricity tariff hike.

The hike, which was announced by NERC’s Vice Chairman, Musliu Oseni, will see electricity consumers under the Band A classification pay N225 for a kilowatt per hour (KW/h) instead of the usual N66, representing an increase of over 200%.

Band A customers are those who enjoy 20-24 hours of electricity supply daily.

The tariff hike became inevitable due to cash flow constraints arising from the Federal Government’s inability to pay obligations to the Nigeria Electricity Market.
