The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, is ‘safe, secure and very fine’, at a police detention facility, suspected to be in Kaduna state.

The Shiite Islamic group had clashed with Nigerian soldiers in Zaria, December 2015, which led to the reported massacre of over 300 of their members.

The headquarters of the Shiite sect was subsequently destroyed by the army and their leader also arrested.

El-Zakzaky was reportedly handed over to the police by the army following the clash between his followers and soldiers in December, 2015.

The Shiite leader, who is being investigated by the police, may be slammed with felony charges after the conclusion of findings bordering on criminal conspiracy and inciting public unrest.

Force Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, while failing to disclose where El-Zakzaky was being kept, however, assured that he’s in good shape.

“All I can tell you is that El-Zakzaky is safe, secure and very fine; he is doing well, but I can’t tell you where he is being kept or whether he is with us (police) or not.”
