The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has condemned the freezing of the personal account of the governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, alleging that it is an indecent practice in democracy.

The party described the action as another several moves which the All Progressive Congress led Federal government has adopted to silence opposition in the country in order to cover its alleged poor governance.

In a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary in Ekiti state, Mr Jackson Adebayo, PDP maintained that ”President Buhari has exposed himself as a true dictator which he is by going to this extent of freezing personal account of a sitting governor because he does not belong to his party and for the fact that he has been been on his neck not to run the country aground.”

The party condemned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, alleging that it is an agent being used by the President to torment members of the peoples democratic party all the time while the same organization closes its eyes on straight allegations of corruption leveled against the APC governors, ministers and past political office holders in their folds.

”The reason for the action of the APC anti-graft agency according to its spokesman is puerile, inconsistent and bogus, asking how could an account be investigated in isolation of its holders.”

“We want to say categorically that the federal government is sliding into rascality in dealing with opposition while the face of dictatorship has been unveiled in Nigeria as it was the practice of the military era. ”

Adebayo said that PDP is not surprised by this latest undemocratic, unconstitutional and barbaric move of the APC federal government , saying that has been their unholy business since the inception of this government as a revenge of the disgrace suffered in the hand of the Ekiti electorates during the June 21 , 2014 governorship election and subsequent ones during which they were defeated roundly by Governor Ayo Fayose.

He berated the leadership of the APC for being on the side of negativity always whenever the issue on Ekiti State comes up, adding that they have been given to perfidy and unusual insanity in politics.

The PDP spokesman noted that what the APC will gain from this latest shenanigans would also be a devastating failure as usual because whatever steps that is not known to democratic ethos and laced with weird rebellious ambition can never stand.
