The Edo State Government has refuted claims suggesting its involvement in a case before the State High Court challenging the authority of the Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II, to suspend Enigie (Dukes of the Kingdom).

In a statement released by the Special Adviser on Media Projects to the Governor, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, the government categorically denied any association with the alleged court case.

“The Edo State Government has no case in court against our revered Royal Father, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin,” the statement read.

Osagie dismissed the rumors circulating on social media platforms regarding an impending court case, labeling them as the machinations of enemies of the state and urged the public to disregard them.

He clarified, “In the matter being referenced by the purveyors of the fake news, Edo State Government is a defendant, which means the State government is being sued.”

Highlighting the government’s stance on its relationship with the Royal Palace, Osagie emphasized the high esteem in which the state holds Oba Ewuare II, affirming a commitment to a cordial partnership.

“The State Government maintains a cordial relationship with the Royal Palace and holds the Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, Ogidigan, in high esteem,” Osagie stated.

He concluded by denouncing the rumor as fabricated and urged citizens to remain vigilant against misinformation, especially during the election season.

“The rumour is fabricated, fake and should be discountenanced in its entirety. It is election season again and fifth columnists are at work,” Osagie cautioned.

The Edo State Government reiterated its commitment to fostering harmonious relationships with all stakeholders and critical institutions to ensure the state’s stability and progress.

“The State Government is committed to sustaining a harmonious relationship with all stakeholders in the State and will always work to ensure cordial relations with all critical institutions in society as part of its mandate to maintain a stable environment for the growth and progress of the State,” the he concluded.
