The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has temporarily halted the collation of results in the ongoing Edo State governorship election, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) maintaining a commanding lead over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okay.ng reports.

As of the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) announced, the APC has garnered 244,549 votes, leading the PDP’s 195,954 votes by 48,595 votes.

Despite the lead, tensions have risen in the collation center, with a PDP agent continually rejecting the results from the LGAs announced so far.

The agent has accused the electoral body of manipulating the figures in favor of the APC, claiming that the results were fabricated to benefit the opposition.

The collation officer while announcing suspension said the process will resume at 5 PM.
