Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, in response to public outcry, has issued a formal apology to Veronica Anyim, a member of the church who was publicly accused of providing false testimony during a church service.

The incident, which garnered widespread attention after a viral video circulated on social media, depicted the church’s Senior Pastor, Paul Enenche, questioning the credibility of Anyim’s testimony.

Anyim had claimed to have graduated with a “Bsc in Law” from the National Open University of Nigeria, but Enenche interrupted her, accusing her of dishonesty and demanding that she leave the pulpit.

However, subsequent investigations revealed that Anyim’s testimony was genuine. It was confirmed that she had indeed graduated from the university with a degree in Law.

In a statement released by the church on Monday, signed by the Personal Assistant to the Senior Pastor, Sylvester Edoh, Dunamis International Gospel Centre expressed regret over the incident, emphasizing that no harm or hurt was intended towards Anyim. The statement clarified that the encounter was driven by concerns regarding Anyim’s language proficiency and the clarity of her academic credentials.

The church reiterated its commitment to upholding standards of excellence and integrity within its community, while also acknowledging the need for sensitivity and compassion in handling such matters. Dunamis International Gospel Centre assured Anyim of its support for her physical welfare and spiritual growth.

The apology comes amidst mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media, with some calling for accountability from the church, while others defend the pastor’s actions.
