President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Africans have come to embrace democracy that has aptly come of age in the continent.

Buhari said this during the inauguration of President Alpha Conde’s of Guinea in Conakry for his second term in office.

Buhari who was represented by Professor Yemi Osinbajo said the conduct of peaceful elections and peaceful transitions has shown that democracy has come to stay in Africa.

He said “It shows that democracy has come of age in Africa. All over, you can see the demonstration of peaceful elections, peaceful transitions from one government to another.

Osinbajo who was accompanied by other dignitaries from Nigeria also added that this “points to the fact that democratic elections in Africa could produce leadership in the right way,” while stressing that “we are seeing that everywhere in Africa.”

President Conde also expressed willingness for greater bilateral relations with Nigeria at the same time seeking more support for his administration.

Other Nigerian dignitaries who attended the event include national leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu; Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, former federal ministers, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili and Mr. Demola Seriki.
