Demi Lovato has finally spoken after nearly two weeks she overdosed and was thought dead.

Recall that Lovato overdosed at her home, scaring an assistant who thought the singer had died.

The singer was saved by a bodyguard who administered first aid and kept her breathing until paramedics arrived.

Last week, a source confirmed that Lovato has agreed to go to rehab, and now she has surfaced on social media to post a lengthy statement in which she thanked those who stood by her side, and also encouraged those going through rough times.

“I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction,” she said. “What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

Lovato further thanked God for “keeping me alive and well,” and told fans that their “positive thoughts and prayers have helped me navigate through this difficult time.”
