The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, has taken decisive action following an alleged case of extortion involving the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) at the Abraka Division, SP Ibrahim Ishaku. The CP has ordered the immediate removal of SP Ibrahim Ishaku from his position.

This development was disclosed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, in a statement released on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the alleged extortion involved the sum of Two Million, four hundred and sixty-five thousand naira (#2,465,000).

The statement from DSP Edafe Bright read, “Following the reported case of extortion of the sum of Two Million, four hundred and sixty-five thousand naira (#2,465,000) by the DCO 2 Abraka Division.

“The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Abaniwonda Olufemi on receipt of this disturbing report directed the DPO Abraka to report at the headquarters alongside the DCO 2 SP Ibrahim Ishaku.

“The CP after getting brief of the disturbing incident immediately ordered the removal of the DCO 2 SP Ibrahim Ishaku with immediate effect and the officer issued a query for misconduct.”

CP Abaniwonda Olufemi emphasized that the Delta State Police Command, under his leadership, will not tolerate any form of misconduct, extortion, or incivility towards members of the public. He hopes that this swift action will serve as a deterrent to other officers
