A devastating multiple vehicle accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has claimed the lives of seven people, while four others sustained injuries. The crash, which occurred on Saturday morning, was reportedly caused by excessive speed on the part of a Mack truck.

According to a statement issued by the Ogun State Sector’s Route Commander and Chief Public Education Officer of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okupe, a total of 15 people were involved in the accident 13 men and two women.

Out of the 15 passengers, four individuals, including three men and one woman, suffered injuries. Tragically, seven others six men and one woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

To ensure a smooth flow of traffic, authorities towed the damaged vehicles from the roadway.

The Sector Commander, Fasakin Akinwumi, visited the scene to conduct further investigations and expressed his condolences to the victims’ families. He urged them to contact the FRSC Ibafo office for more information.

Authorities continue to stress the dangers of excessive speed and encourage motorists to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies.
