Nigerian singer D’banj has lauded Don Jazzy, the head honcho of Mavin Records, for his significant contribution to his two-decade-long career.

The heartfelt tribute came during a visit to Don Jazzy, where D’banj presented him with a special gift.

D’banj and Don Jazzy’s enduring friendship in the music industry dates back to 2004 when they co-founded Mo’ Hits Records. The label, which housed notable artists like Wande Coal, Dr SID, D’Prince, and K-Switch, was a powerhouse in the Nigerian music scene. Don Jazzy produced some of D’banj’s most memorable tracks, including ‘Why Me’, ‘Suddenly’, ‘Olorun Maje’, and ‘Igwe’.

However, in March 2012, Don Jazzy announced that D’banj had departed from Mo’ Hits. Despite their professional separation, the bond between the two remains strong.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, D’banj shared a video of himself visiting Don Jazzy, where he presented the renowned music producer with a gift box and an harmonica, a trademark instrument that characterized D’banj’s music style during their Mo’ Hits era.

D’banj during his visit reminisced about their early days, recalling how they returned from the United Kingdom in 2004 and decided to pursue music together. He praised Don Jazzy for his unwavering belief and support.

“I started this 20-year journey with you. 20 years ago, we came back from London together. I remember that in 2004 when we started, you were the first person that believed in me. The first person that covered me. And you were there throughout. I just want to say the story is not complete without you,” D’banj said.

Reflecting on their journey, D’banj expressed his gratitude and nostalgia, stating, “My 20-year journey cannot be complete without you. It’s @donjazzy again! Giving him the invite to my anniversary dinner was a moment filled with nostalgia. As we both celebrate 20 years in the industry, I’m reminded of the countless memories and milestones we’ve shared together. Here’s to two decades of brotherhood, entertainment, and unwavering support. Love you always, Brother! OooSHee.”
