Award-winning music star Davido has publicly addressed his ongoing custody dispute with his first babymama, Sophia Momodu, after she invoked the memory of their late son, Ifeanyi, in their legal battle.

The conflict, which centers on Davido’s request for joint custody of their daughter Imade, has escalated with both parties airing their grievances on social media.

In a detailed legal filing, Davido had accused Sophia of obstructing his access to their daughter and extorting money from him.

He alleged that despite their past relationship ending years ago, Sophia had made unreasonable demands, including rejecting his offer of housing and instead demanding N5 million for her monthly rent.

He expressed frustration at what he described as Sophia’s attempts to manipulate the situation for personal gain.

Sophia, in response, refuted Davido’s claims. She accused the singer of failing to make any genuine efforts to see Imade and criticized him for neglecting his parental responsibilities.

Additionally, she alleged that Davido had been unfaithful during their relationship and used their child as a pawn in their disputes.

The situation took a more personal turn when Sophia filed a 102-paragraph affidavit opposing Davido’s request for joint custody, referencing the tragic death of their son Ifeanyi, as well as his controversial public persona and alleged use of Imade to retaliate against her.

Davido took to Instagram to confront these allegations and express his pain. In a heartfelt post, he criticized Sophia for using the death of their son to further her argument in the custody battle, stating, “You’re constantly bringing up the death of my child at any point you can to just remind us of this tragedy that haunts us every day of our lives.”

He vowed to continue fighting for his daughter’s welfare, emphasizing that Imade will grow up to see the efforts he made on her behalf. “Imade will grow up to see I fought for her. As for now, you can have her. P.S. She won’t be a child forever. Enjoy. I made Aurora Adeleke! Your father loves you,” Davido wrote.

In a subsequent Instagram story, Davido expressed his frustration over the public’s reaction to his request for joint custody.

He lamented that his request was being scrutinized more harshly simply because of his celebrity status, stating, “All I ask for is JOINT CUSTODY!! And nothing else! But because it’s Davido, y’all wanna act like y’all can’t read. Smh. I’m off this! Y’all be blessed and I pray this never happens to you.”
