The executive Governor of Ogun State, his excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun on Saturday, lauded the credible contributions and sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces in regards to the defense of the nation, stating that his administration would always be present to acknowledge their sacrificial efforts in safeguarding the nation.

Abiodun proportionally thanked the Fleet Commander of the Eastern Fleet of the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga, ascribing him as a very gallant, responsible and diligent Naval officer who has endeavored to make the state worthy of emulation with his meteoric rise and sterling accomplishment in the Navy.

The governor, represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, unveiled this during the civic reception cordinated by the Ijebu Ife Community in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State to commemorate the birthday and recent promotion of Oguntuga to a Rear Admiral in the Nigerian Navy.

The civic reception, which occurred at the Palace of the Ajalorun of Ijebu Ife, Oba Adesesan Oguntayo, in attendance were the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Olaoye Ghandi, former Minister of Health, Dr Olorunimbe Mamora, the Secretary to Ogun State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, Chief Bisi Akande, former governor of Osun State among several dignitaries and royal fathers.

Abiodun stated, “In Ogun State, we recognise the invaluable sacrifices of our armed forces in securing our lives, our properties and the nation’s territorial integrity.

“Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga has been part of those who have made the country safer and stable for us all. And as a government, we shall continue to support our Armed Forces to further succeed in their constitutionally given roles.”

The governor appreciated the community for holding the civic reception highlighting that achieving the rank of Rear Admiral in the Nigerian Navy is not a small height as it showcase years of leadership and remarkable services to the nation.

Abiodun stated, “This civic reception is a celebration of professionalism, service and commitment to duty. It is a moment of pride for Ijebu Ife, Ogun State and the nation at large.

“The selfless service of Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga in the Nigerian Navy has been defined by excellence coupled with rigorous training that has prepared him for his new enviable heights and future tasks

“We trust that Rear Admiral Kolawole Oguntuga will continue to inspire others, uphold the highest standard of leadership and contribute more to the progress of the Nigerian Navy.”

Abiodun further highlighted that Oguntuga’s achievement should serve as emulation to his successors, as there is no limit to what can be obtained through relentless efforts.

The celebrant, Oguntuga in his speech stated that the journey has been tough and rough but the Almighty God inline with the support of the Nigerian Navy has made the challenges a successful adventure.

He praised President Bola Tinubu not excluding the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla for endorsing his recent progression to the rank of a two-star General, Rear Admiral.
