The High Court, sitting in Kwara State has reserved judgment in the Offa bank robbery case until August 2, 2024. The presiding judge, Justice Haleema Salman, adopted the final written addresses of the prosecution and defense teams on Monday.

Six suspects, including a policeman, are standing trial for their alleged involvement in the April 5, 2018, armed robbery that claimed over 30 lives, including nine policemen. The suspects are facing charges of criminal conspiracy to rob, murder, and illegal possession of firearms.

The prosecution and defense teams presented their arguments, and the judge reserved judgment until August 2, noting that the date is tentative. The trial began on November 11, 2018, and has spanned over six years.

The Offa bank robbery incident was a bloody attack on five commercial banks in the ancient town of Offa, Kwara State, resulting in significant loss of life and property. The judgment on August 2 is eagerly awaited by the families of the victims and the public.
