The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has deferred the arraignment of gospel music producer and talent manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as EeZee Tee, in a case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The hearing, overseen by Justice Alexander Owoeye, was pushed to May 14, 2025, due to procedural delays within the court.

The dispute between EeZee Tee and renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo stems from allegations of financial misconduct and contract violations. Chinwo has accused her former manager of misappropriating $345,000 in revenue generated from digital music platforms and performances.

However, EeZee Tee has refuted these claims, maintaining that the financial transactions in question were within the terms of their contractual agreement, which, according to him, remains valid. Over the past few months, the case has seen multiple legal twists and delays:

January 16, 2025 – The EFCC obtained a warrant for EeZee Tee’s arrest, alleging that he had deliberately evaded court summons.

January 24, 2025 – The warrant was later revoked after EeZee Tee’s legal representatives argued that he had not been served properly and assured the court of his willingness to appear.

February 17, 2025 – The scheduled arraignment was postponed once again after his legal team reported that he had been involved in an accident on the day of the hearing.
At the most recent hearing, both the EFCC and EeZee Tee’s defense team were in attendance, prepared to move forward with the case.

However, Justice Owoeye cited unresolved administrative matters as a reason for postponing the proceedings. The judge emphasized that the court would not take further steps until these formalities were settled, leading to the adjournment until May 14.

Following the court’s decision, EeZee Tee was seen making a swift exit from the courtroom. Reporters attempted to engage him, but he avoided making any statements, leaving the premises quickly to evade media scrutiny.
