Justice Usman Mallam Na’Abba of the Kano State High Court has nullified the suspension of former governor of the state, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The court ruling, delivered on a suit marked K/M1175/2023, also prohibited certain aggrieved members of the party from assuming the roles of National Officers of the NNPP.

In his verdict, Justice Na’Abba issued an order of interim injunction, restraining the respondents from parading themselves, issuing press releases, or granting interviews as national officers, leaders, or members of the NNPP.

This injunction remains in place pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

Furthermore, the court set aside the purported suspension of Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as a member of the NNPP, while restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing the said suspension. These orders, too, are subject to the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

The respondents named in the case include Chief Dr. Bontrace O. Aniebonam, Dr. Gilbert Agbo Major, Barr. Tony Christopher Obioha, Comrade Oginni Olaposi, Hajia Rexia Zanlaga, Mark Usman, Umar Jubril, Alhaji Adebayo Wasiu, Alhaji Taxudeen Adebayo, Alhay Mamoh Garuba, Abourasaq Abdulsalam, and Barr. Abiola Henry Olarotimi.

Additionally, Engr. Babayo Aboullahi Mohammed, Alhaji Ibrahim Yahaya, Chinonso Adiofu, Hon. Prince Sunday Chukwuemeka, Barr. Jonathan Chineme Ibeogu, and INEC are among the respondents.

A Form 48, dated February 14, was filed to notify the respondents of the consequences of disobedience to the court order.
