Dasuki-Court-4-1-1

Former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (Rtd) has finally appeared before a Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, weeks after he failed to show up in court.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola had ordered the Department of State Services to produce Colonel Dasuki before the court today (Tuesday).

The Judge gave the order after Colonel Dasuki failed to show up for trial on January 20, 2016.

Dasuki is facing a 4-count charge of money laundering and illegal possession of firearms brought against him by the Department of State Services.

The four counts preferred against the former NSA before Justice Ademola are unrelated to the two separate sets of charges ‎bordering on alleged diversion of arms funds pending against Dasuki and others before two judges of the Federal Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, Dasuki asked the court to adjourn the trial until the federal government complies with an order of the federal high court granting him bail.

However Counsel to the FG Dikpo Okpeseyi opposed the motion saying that the prosecution was not stopping Dasuki from enjoying his freedom.

He said that the accused person was not being allegedly held for the charges before the court

After deliberations, the court adjourned to March 3 for hearing of a motion to discharge Dasuki

Justice Ademola Adeniyi, in his order, said the court has not excused the former National Security Adviser from being present in court to face the criminal charges preferred against him by the Federal Government.
