The Anambra State Police Command has launched an intensive manhunt to track down the armed assailants responsible for the abduction of an unidentified resident in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.

The abduction, which took place in the early hours of Friday, saw three gunmen operating in an unregistered stainless-coloured Toyota Highlander seize their victim near his home. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers fired shots indiscriminately before forcibly taking the individual away.

A video of the incident, which has been widely shared on social media, captures the moment the armed men, driving a Toyota Highlander without a license plate, unleashed gunfire and abducted the victim.

Okay.ng reports that, in a statement released on Saturday, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that the police have obtained the viral video and are leveraging it in their ongoing rescue efforts. He emphasized the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safe return of the abducted individual.

“Given the above, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has hailed the bravery of the individual who recorded the video, as it is aiding the rescue operations and potentially helping to save the kidnapped victim.
