Chuwi SurBook 2-in-1 Tablet

Design and Display

The Chuwi SurBook doesn’t look shabby for a tablet aimed at competing with Surface hybrids on price. It flaunts a fan-less, all-metal design, which is impressive for a not overly expensive 2-in-1.

The body rocks a silver or black finish. The Chuwi SurBook tablet even features a kickstand just like a Surface. You can flip it up to 125 degrees. It comes with a backlit keyboard you can detach to use the device as a tablet.

As for the display, you get a 12.3-inch unit with a resolution comparable to that of the Surface Pro – 2736 x 1824 pixels. The touchscreen also offers 10 point multi-touch and has an aspect ratio of 3:2. Chuwi throws in a stylus offering 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity as well.

Hardware and Software

While the Chuwi SurBook may be considered a competitor of the Surface, it falls short in hardware. The Chuwi SurBook cannot be able to stand against a Surface device in terms of performance.

It comes with an Intel Apollo Lake N3450 processor, which is a far cry from the Kaby Lake Core processors on the Microsoft devices. But it is a good thing that the CPU clocks 2.2 GHz. The Chuwi SurBook also offers impressive 6 GB of RAM. So you should still get enjoyable performance as well as decently long battery life. You will be able to get the 2-in-1 in 64GB and 128GB models. Operating system of choice here is Windows 10.

Other Specifications and Features

The hybrid offers a pair of 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras for image capturing. Chuwi SurBook features two full-size USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port and a microSDXC card slot for expansion. The Chuwi SurBook will reportedly be available with a humongous 10,000mAh battery rated at an average of eight hours. Its 24W Type-C charger enables rapid charging.

Pricing and availability

The Chuwi SurBook can be pre-ordered at Indiegogo starting at $299 for 64GB model. Adding the keyboard and stylus pen will bring price to $349. Chuwi SurBook 128GB model goes for $399 with the keyboard included. You can check the Indiegogo page here.

We do not have official price or availability for Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya for now. When available, you should be able to buy the tablet at leading online stores in the countries. Chuwi SurBook Price in Nigeria is expected to range from 110,000 Naira to 195,000 Naira depending on the model and included accessories.
