The children of Lamidi Adeyemi, the late Alaafin of Oyo, have issued a stern warning to Damilola Adeyemi, the ex-wife of the late monarch, over alleged defamatory comments about their father.

On Friday, Aminat Adeyemi, one of the late Alaafin’s daughters, shared a letter via Instagram addressing Dami’s alleged remarks.

The letter, dated January 22, 2025, accused Dami of making “disrespectful and harmful” statements in public interviews that tarnish the legacy of their father. The family also warned of potential legal action if she continued mentioning the monarch’s name.

“It has come to our attention that Damilola Sukurat Moshood (popularly called Queen Dami) has been making public remarks regarding our late father in various interviews,” the letter reads.

“While we respect everyone’s freedom of speech, we find it necessary to address this matter as these statements have become increasingly disrespectful and harmful to our family’s reputation.

“We hereby request that you cease making any further public statements involving our late father’s name or legacy.

“These comments are not only inaccurate but also unnecessary, especially considering your prior status and circumstances. You are no longer a part of the family or his legacy, and as such, we expect you to respect the boundaries of our family matters.

“We urge you to pursue your endeavors without dragging our father’s name into public conversations.

“Any further remarks that tarnish his memory or our family name will not be tolerated, and we reserve the right to take appropriate legal or reputational actions if necessary.

“We hope this serves as a clear and final warning. Let us all move forward with dignity and respect.”

The late Alaafin of Oyo passed away in April 2022.

Damilola has been a subject of public controversy, especially since her relationship with singer Portable became public in 2023.
