Child Marriage: I Almost Got Married at the Age of 13 – Rahama Sadau

Kannywood star and Nigerian actress, Rahama Sadau has revealed how she was almost forced to get married at the young age of 13.

The actress who recently made her debut to Nollywood in an interview talked about her life in the acting world and on the issue of child marriage.

When asked about how she has impacted the issue of child marriage in the Northern part of the country the she then revealed how she was almost forced to get married at the age of 13.

“Some of us have been fighting against early marriage and girl child education, though it is a very sensitive issue. Whenever you talk against early child marriage, religion will definitely come in. So, it is very sensitive.

“On my part, I’m trying to create awareness by sitting with parents to enlighten them. In my own case, I almost got married at the age of 13. So many things happened. But we are working on it.”

She also revealed how she managed to have escaped being married at that young age, she said;

“For me, I will always be grateful to my mum. She always wants us to achieve.”
