The 20-year-old River Plate defender will leave for Europe this summer with the Premier League side joining Serie A clubs in the race for his signature

Chelsea have been told they will be able to sign Emanuel Mammana from River Plate for as little as 8 million, but face competition from Inter and Fiorentina in the race for his signature.

Forumspotz understands that the 20-year-old centre-back’s representative Hernan Reguera has been in London for initial talks with Chelsea, as River Plate have given the green light for their prized asset to move to Europe.

And the defender is available for a small fee, as a River source told Goal: “if Chelsea put up 8m, they will get Mammana.”

Mammana’s contract expires in June 2019 and he has a release clause of around11m but the Argentine side will accept less in order to move him on quicker.

Reguera will fly to Italy next week to talk with Fiorentina and Inter before making a decision on Mammana’s future.

Inter vice president Javier Zanetti has confirmed his club’s interest amid reports they are also looking to sign River striker Lucas Alario.

“We will insist on Mammana, for the moment, we are not negotiating for Alario”he told ESPN.

Real Betis are also looking at Mammana while Arsenal and Napoli have previously shown an interest in the Argentine.

Mammana is seen as a skillful ball playing centre-back but can be used at full back. He made his Argentina debut before he played in River’s first team – becoming the first player to do so since Javier Mascherano.
