Chelsea secured a historic 4-1 win against Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final held in Wroclaw on Wednesday, becoming the first club ever to claim all four major European trophies. Despite an early setback when Betis took the lead through Abde Ezzalzouli in the 9th minute, Chelsea staged a remarkable comeback in the second half.

Man of the match Cole Palmer was instrumental, setting up goals for Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson within five minutes, turning the game on its head. Substitute Jadon Sancho sealed the victory with a goal in the 83rd minute, and Moises Caicedo added a late fourth to complete the scoreline.

This triumph marks Chelsea’s first major trophy since the takeover by Todd Boehly’s consortium in 2022, ending a period of transition following the Roman Abramovich era. Chelsea’s comeback was sparked by tactical changes from manager Enzo Maresca, including the introduction of captain Reece James at halftime.

Betis started strongly, with Isco orchestrating their attack and Ezzalzouli scoring a left-footed shot past Chelsea’s goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen. However, Chelsea’s resilience showed as they dominated possession and created chances, with Jorgensen making key saves to keep them in the game.

Chelsea’s second-half resurgence was led by Palmer’s creativity, delivering precise crosses that Fernandez headed in and Jackson converted. Sancho’s goal and Caicedo’s late strike ensured a comprehensive victory, breaking a long-standing streak of Spanish dominance in European finals.

The win not only secures Chelsea’s place in football history but also signals their return to elite European competition, with the team set to compete in the upcoming Club World Cup in June.
