CBN insists on implementation of cashless policy

The Central Bank of Nigeria has insisted to go ahead with the implementation of cashless policy.

Okay.ng gathered that CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, disclosed this while speaking to newsmen after the Monetary Policy Committee meeting in Abuja on Friday.

He noted that the cashless policy in line with its mandate to ensure an efficient payment system.

Emefiele said contrary to claims in some quarters that many Nigerians would suffer the negative impact of the policy, only about five to ten per of bank customers would be affected.

He then appealed to bank customers who the policy will cause affect.

“I sympathize and regret inconvenience cashless policy will cause bank customers,” Emefiele said.
