Former President Muhammadu Buhari reached out in a phone call to President Bola Tinubu on Friday to congratulate him on his 72nd birthday.

According to Garba Shehu, Buhari’s former presidential spokesperson, the former president stated that he is “fully committed” to the success of the Tinubu administration during their call.

“In the course of the conversation, the former president said he was fully committed to the success of the APC administration under President Tinubu,” Shehu said in a statement.

He added that Buhari prayed fervently for Tinubu’s success, emphasizing the importance of supporting the nation’s leader.

“In this regard, President Buhari prayed profusely for Tinubu’s success, saying that praying for a leader is imperative as his success and well-being are for the nation (everyone), adding that the accomplishments of the new administration must be seen as national achievements,” the statement read.

Earlier on Friday, Buhari took to X (formerly Twitter) to publicly wish Tinubu a happy birthday, commending the president for his “excellent leadership.”

“Happy 72nd Birthday to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT,” Buhari wrote.

“I commend you for your excellent leadership, and the sustained efforts to overcome the many problems of the country.”
