Several passengers sustained injuries on Tuesday following a late-night collision between two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicles in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos, Okay.ng reports.

The incident, which occurred late on Tuesday, involved two BRT buses in a head-on collision after one of the buses attempted to avoid hitting a commercial motorcycle, commonly known as an “okada,” that was illegally plying the BRT corridor.

Nosa Okunbor, spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), provided details of the accident, confirming that no lives were lost in the crash.

“Upon arrival of the agency’s response team at the incident scene, the LRT discovered a road traffic accident involving two BRT buses, registration numbers unknown, at the aforementioned location,” Okunbor said.

Further investigations revealed that the Iyana Ipaja-bound BRT bus swerved in an effort to avoid the commercial motorcyclist, leading to a collision with an oncoming BRT bus.

“Passengers of both buses reportedly suffered various degrees of injuries and were all taken to the nearest hospital before the arrival of the agency’s response team,” Okunbor added.
