In a disappointing showdown at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s four-game unbeaten streak came to an abrupt end as Brentford secured a 2-0 victory. The Blues, dominating the initial half with numerous missed opportunities, paid the price in the later stages.

Ethan Pinnock’s headed goal swiftly after the hour mark and Bryan Mbeumo’s counter-attacking strike sealed the win for the visitors, despite Chelsea’s relentless efforts, particularly from Cole Palmer orchestrating the attack.

Pochettino, making three changes to the squad, grappled with enforced substitutions. The absence of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk due to minor training injuries saw Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson stepping up, actively contributing in a first half controlled by Chelsea.

Despite their commanding display and numerous chances, including a shot hitting the crossbar from Madueke, the Blues couldn’t capitalize on their dominance. Brentford, limited to counter-attacks, found their breakthrough before the hour mark through Pinnock’s header, shifting the game’s momentum.

Desperate for a response, Chelsea brought in Reece James and Ian Maatsen but struggled against Brentford’s defensive setup, ultimately failing to find the net despite late pressure.

With this defeat, Chelsea drops to the 11th position, conceding their spot to Brentford in the Premier League standings.
