The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially announced that it will commence nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel starting August 15, 2025. This landmark initiative aims to revolutionize Nigeria’s fuel supply chain by deploying 4,000 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers to enhance delivery capacity and improve fuel accessibility across the country.

According to a statement released on Sunday, the refinery’s distribution program will serve a wide range of stakeholders including marketers, petrol station dealers, manufacturers, telecom operators, aviation companies, and other large-scale fuel consumers. To further strengthen logistics, Dangote Petroleum Refinery plans to establish daughter booster CNG stations and maintain a dedicated fleet of over 100 gas-powered tankers.

The company emphasized that the logistics support package, which includes free product delivery, is designed to eliminate existing distribution bottlenecks and reduce operational costs in critical sectors of the economy. “Dangote Petroleum Refinery is pleased to announce the commencement of a significant national initiative designed to transform Nigeria’s fuel distribution landscape,” the statement read.

The refinery’s strategic program aligns with its broader commitment to eliminating logistics costs, enhancing energy efficiency, promoting sustainability, and supporting Nigeria’s economic development. This move comes amid rising tensions in Lagos, where tanker drivers have threatened to halt fuel loading due to the high cost of the E-Call Up system on the Lekki-Epe Corridor.

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group and founder of the refinery, recently hinted at a forthcoming “major shakedown” in the downstream sector, describing it as a complete overhaul rather than a mere price reduction. This announcement followed President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the $20 billion refinery in Lekki, Lagos.

In addition to free logistics, the refinery will introduce a credit scheme for bulk buyers purchasing 500,000 litres or more, aiming to revitalize dormant filling stations, reduce inflationary pressures, stimulate small businesses, and support the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms.

More updates on this transformative fuel distribution initiative will follow.
