The Borno chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday endorsed the emergence of the former governor of the state Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, as the National Chairman of the party.

Alhaji Usman Badairi, the state secretary of the party disclosed while addressing newsmen in Maiduguri.

Badairi said the choice of Sheriff as the chairman of the party was a divine intervention.

“We believe that his emergence as the PDP chairman was an act of God. Because Sheriff is well known in the political terrain of Nigeria as a master, where ever he goes, ‘’ he said.

Badairi added that the former governor made great impact in the APP, ANPP, CPC and APC before crossing over to the PDP. He said that the appointment of Sheriff as the PDP chairman had already created confusion in the APC camp.

“The APC is jittery since he became the chairman, because he is going to sweep them out in 2019,’’ Badairi said.

He expressed optimism that the Sheriff led PDP will uproot in governing All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2019.

“We will uproot the APC in both Borno and Nigeria at large in 2019, because we will ensure that strict democratic rules are followed during the 2019 election,’’ Badairi said.

He expressed the unanimous support of the Borno PDP Chapter to the Ali Modu-Sheriff National Executives of the party.

“The Borno State PDP Executives and the Local Government (LG) chairmen hereby wish to express our support to Sheriff as the new National Chairman of the party. We unanimously endorsed him as our own as he settles down to take the PDP to a great height,’’ Badairi said.
