Bollywood macho and romantic actor Salman Khan has been granted bail on Saturday, two days after he was sentenced to five years imprisonment.

The actor’s sentencing was based on an accident where he killed two black Bucks, an endangered specie of Antelopes in 1998.

Khan, was previously sentenced to seven years in prison in 2006 but only spent one day before he was granted bail.

In 2017, he was discharged of five similar offences except for the death of these animals he accidentally shot while filming India box-office movie, “Hum Saath Saath Hain” in 1998.

His lawyer Mahesh Bora told pressmen on Saturday that the judge granted a bail in the sum of 50,000 rupees ($770).

The 52-year-old actor is expected to appear in court on May 7, to appeal the case.

Meanwhile, the People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), an animal rights group, have expressed disappointment in the case.

CEO of PETA, Manilal Valliyate said in a statement that “While Salman Khan gets to go back home to his movie star life for now, black bucks were made to pay the highest price, with their lives.”

Khan who ranks among the highest paid actors in the world has accused Rajasthan’s forest department of trying to set him up.

According to his lawyers, the animals died of natural causes and were not shot by the actor.
