The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, has assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration will soon put an end to the menace of Boko Haram insurgency in the country.

Adesina said this on Saturday while speaking with journalists in an interview in his home town, Ipetumodu, in Osun State, after a reception in his honour. The town also celebrated a commissioner on the Board of National Pension Commission, Mr. Olaoba Efuntayo, at the same reception.

Reacting to the criticism that Buhari is
going at a very slow pace, the SA said it was better for the President to be slow and steady than to run at a very fast pace and stumble.

Adesina said, “He (Buhari) came on board on the wings of change. Slow and steady wins the race. Surely the desired. change will come.

“The end to Book Haram insurgency is also imminent. The president is working assiduously to achieve that soon just as he promised.

“The President has said the deadline to defeat Boko Haram is December this year. The President made a promise in July that Boko Haram would be defeated in 18 months now he has changed it to December this year. He is the commander in chief and he has a wider view of the whole thing.”

Responding to the allegation from the Peoples Democratic Party that Buhari was out to persecute some of its leaders, Adesina said the opposition party was saying that because of the defeat the party suffered in the last general elections.

He said, “The PDP got a black eye in the election and that is why they are whining the way they are doing and nothing more.”

Earlier, the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Oba James Adegoke, hailed the appointments of Adesina and Efuntayo, while charging the duo to use their offices to bring development to the town.
