Popular social media personality and cross-dresser Okuneye Idris, widely known as Bobrisky, was detained by immigration officers while attempting to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam late Thursday night.

The arrest has sparked fresh controversy, as Bobrisky claims that Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials were involved in his detention, alleging he sustained injuries during an altercation with the officers.

Bobrisky alerted his followers through an Instagram post, writing, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”

The incident marks the latest development in a series of legal issues for Bobrisky, which began in April 2024 when he was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse.

Although initially detained at Kirikiri Prison, reports later suggested that he was moved to a private location after three weeks, allegedly facilitated by a ₦15 million bribe to ensure preferential conditions.

The situation further escalated in September 2024 when social media influencer VeryDarkMan released an audio recording allegedly implicating Bobrisky.

In the recording, Bobrisky purportedly claimed that musician Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, approached him during his detention, seeking ₦10 million to secure a presidential pardon.

In response, Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on 16 October 2024, demanding a public retraction and apology for what they termed defamatory statements.

Bobrisky, however, denied responsibility for the audio, urging the Falanas to hold VeryDarkMan accountable for the leaked content.

This latest detention follows an earlier attempt by Bobrisky to leave Nigeria on 22 October when he was intercepted at the Seme border. His recent social media posts have drawn significant attention and concern from fans, as details surrounding his current legal issues continue to unfold.

As of now, neither the EFCC nor immigration authorities have issued an official statement regarding the latest detention.
