The former Tottenham boss has obviously not been watching the la liga in recent weeks because he actually told journalists that Gareth Bale was similar to Real Madrid legend and three time ballon d’or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo. Yes he actually said that.

Gareth Bale has been widely criticized for his performances in recent weeks and the former Tottenham star has only gotten worse as he was very disappointing in both legs of the clubs Champions league loss to Juventus and he put on probably his worst performance on Sunday against Espanyol. “Both of them are players who like to roam freely, Bale slightly behind… They are players who feel more comfortable without any tactical restrictions. It would be amazing to see them both at full speed, 30 or 40 yards out and sprinting towards goal, running at defences.” Redknapp told reporters and he also said that he didn’t feel Bale was under pressure playing in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo but he also stated that the Welshman needed to sort his issues out if he would be considered a great.

Redknapp who retired from management earlier in the season was the one that signed Bale to Tottenham from Southampton.
