In a disturbing development on Tuesday night, the family home of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, located in Ihima community within Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, came under a violent attack by a group of gunmen. The assailants arrived in large numbers, launching a brutal assault on the senator’s ancestral residence.
According to a statement released by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s media team, the attackers began by smashing windows and destroying valuables inside the property. The violence was abruptly halted when local security forces, including police officers, community vigilantes, and youths from the area, responded swiftly to repel the attackers.
During the confrontation, one suspect was apprehended at the scene. Although the individual’s identity has not been officially disclosed, sources indicate that he is a native of the community and allegedly linked to influential political figures. The suspect reportedly confessed to participating in three previous attacks on the senator’s family compound.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the suspect was nearly lynched by an enraged mob before being rescued by the police and taken into custody. Authorities recovered a cutlass and several charms from the suspect, while other attackers, believed to be armed with dangerous weapons, managed to escape and remain at large.
This incident marks the second time Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family home has been targeted in recent months. On April 15, 2025, the residence was previously attacked, though no arrests were made following that earlier assault.
