Features of the National Multipurpose Identity Card

  • Compliance with NIMC Act: The card is backed by the NIMC Act No. 23 of 2007, mandating the enrollment and issuance of a General Multipurpose Card (GMPC) to Nigerians and legal residents.

Obtaining the New NIMC Multipurpose ID Card

Obtaining the new multipurpose ID card is a streamlined process accessible to all eligible individuals. Here are the various methods:

Online Requisition Portal

  • Initiate a card request.
  • Select preferred card type, bank, and pick-up location.

In-branch Card Request – Bank Locations

  1. Approach the desired bank branch with your National Identification Number (NIN).
  2. Get verified through the NIMC verification service.
  3. Provide necessary details and pay the required fees to complete the application process.

In-branch Card Request – NIMC Locations

  1. Visit the desired NIMC enrollment centre with your NIN.
  2. Get verified through the NIMC Verification Service.
  3. Provide details and receive a reference code for payment.
  4. Visit the bank to make payment and complete the application process.

Card Pickup

  • Applicants receive notifications to collect their cards at designated banks.
  • Banks confirm card pickup via the portal.

Important Notes

  • Validity: The identity section of the card is valid indefinitely, while the payment feature has an expiration date.
  • Security Warning: Individuals are cautioned against sharing card details with unauthorized parties to prevent fraud.
