The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is coasting toward victory in the Edo State governorship election after winning 11 out of the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Okay.ng reports.

According to the results declared by the Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, APC is currently in the lead with 275,329 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) follows with 220,892 votes. The Labour Party (LP) sits in third place with 18,737 votes.

Despite the significant lead, tensions arose when a PDP agent from Oredo Local Government contested the results, accusing electoral officials of tampering with the figures. This claim was swiftly rejected by the APC representatives. Prof. Kuta called for calm as the collation continued.

The final LGA yet to be announced is Ikpoba-Okha, which could further influence the final outcome.
