The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has taken disciplinary action against Alhaji Kabir Sani-Giant, the Special Adviser on Power and Politics to Governor Nasir Idris, following a bizarre incident at the Government House involving a snake.

The suspension, which takes immediate effect, was confirmed in an official statement issued on Sunday by the party’s state secretary, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad-Kimba.

According to the statement, Sani-Giant reportedly brought a live snake into the Government House on February 8, 2025, an act that caused panic among dignitaries, top government officials, and other guests present.

Describing the incident as unacceptable, Muhammad-Kimba stressed that such behavior not only breaches party discipline but also risks bringing the APC into disrepute.

He cited violations of the party’s constitution as the basis for the suspension, adding that further investigations would determine if additional sanctions, including possible expulsion, would be necessary.

“His suspension remains in effect pending further investigation and possible disciplinary action, which could lead to expulsion if repeated,” Muhammad-Kimba stated.

The shocking nature of the event has triggered widespread discussions, with many questioning the rationale behind Sani-Giant’s actions.

While his motives remain unclear, the APC’s prompt response signals its stance on maintaining order and professionalism within its ranks.

This is not the first time an official in Kebbi State has faced disciplinary measures under Governor Nasir Idris’ administration.

In July 2023, the governor dismissed his Special Adviser on Youths, Alhaji Babangida Sarki, after an inappropriate post on his WhatsApp status sparked public outrage.

The controversial content was deemed offensive and contrary to the moral values upheld by the people of Kebbi, leading to swift action from the government.

Governor Idris has repeatedly emphasized his zero-tolerance policy on actions that could tarnish the image of his administration.

Sani-Giant’s suspension reinforces the APC’s commitment to enforcing ethical standards among its officials and members.

As the party looks into the circumstances surrounding the snake incident, it has reiterated that any behavior undermining its credibility or going against its guiding principles will be met with strict consequences.

Beyond this specific case, the development raises broader concerns about the expectations placed on public officials and the potential repercussions of unprofessional conduct.

The APC’s decisive stance serves as a warning that actions deviating from proper decorum will not be tolerated.
