Anthony Joshua claimed his third victory of 2023, sealing a TKO triumph over Otto Wallin in the headlining bout of the “Day of Reckoning” event. The highly anticipated match held in Riyadh witnessed Joshua’s dominant fifth-round technical knockout win over Wallin, marking his third win of the year.

Having previously secured wins over Jermaine Franklin in April and Robert Helenius via a seventh-round knockout in August, Joshua faced Wallin, who was expected to pose a significant challenge, especially with his southpaw stance. However, Joshua displayed his prowess, securing a commanding victory over his opponent.

Wallin, known for his formidable record, faced his only defeat against Tyson Fury in 2019, between Fury’s encounters with Deontay Wilder. Despite the loss, Wallin provided a tough challenge to the lineal champion, Fury, during their bout.

With this win, Joshua now boasts an impressive record of 27 victories and three losses, having achieved 24 knockout wins.

Wallin’s coach, Joey Garnache, halted the fight to spare his fighter from further punishment, acknowledging Joshua’s tremendous performance.

Post-fight, Joshua conveyed his determination to strive for the extraordinary feat of becoming a three-time world heavyweight boxing champion. He emphasized his focus on the journey towards the ultimate goal, refraining from celebrations until he secures the title.

Meanwhile, in an earlier showdown, Joseph Parker outperformed former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, securing a unanimous point decision victory. Parker’s comprehensive dominance throughout the non-title fight was evident, with all three judges unanimously scoring the bout in favor of the New Zealander, with final scores of 118-111, 118-110, and 120-108.

“Everyone had other plans but this is God’s plan,” remarked Parker after his victory, reflecting on his successful performance against Wilder.
